Rick McCartney, PMHNP-BC

Rick is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and Co-Founder of Green Light Behavioral Health. Rick studied Health and Counseling Psychology at Emmanuel College and obtained his graduate training at Boston College’s School of Nursing, where he became a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.  As a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner, Rick uses a holistic approach to mental health which incorporates an understanding of the biological, environmental, psychological, and social influences on health to address a broad spectrum of psychological challenges.  He employs cognitive behavioral, acceptance, mindfulness, and motivational techniques in therapy. To address biological factors contributing to pathology, medications are often an adjunctive therapy to provide relief from symptoms and aid clients in building skills to manage life stressors and troublesome symptoms. Having experience in outpatient, inpatient, and community based practices, Rick feels comfortable working with a wide variety of conditions including: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality and thought disorders, addictions, trauma, and ADHD.
